Martini Tuesday

Last night I went to the 400th week of the SOBE Social Club Martini Tuesday at the Sagamore Hotel.  Unlike many of the past events, this one was a great networking event where my business partner and I met several good contacts.  We were beginning to grow jaded from the transient population of Miami and have made it a point now to grow roots with the native population.

Prop 2 Appeal?

It is strange that Florida voted for a republican president but still managed to vote for the state constitutional amendment to ban domestic partnership rights.  Perhaps the injustice of civil rights is not appropriately held in disgust by the media as much lesser crimes emphasized by our beloved press today.

Eye mask

Traditionally I have always had a bedroom I could keep dark but my one now it is very hard and I have a huge glass door facing the sunrise. I've started sleeping with an eye mask to prevent waking up too early and I find I really like it!

I saw the first strikeoff today of our company's new line of hand-painted fabrics.  It was breathtaking.  I will have it all over my home.  Had a thought today regarding marketing materials and we have begun a starter book to give to clients.  It works with the website, but allows people to print out our product lines and have them in a bound book that they can customize to their specific tastes and projects!

Today I created my first wiki entry.  I am trying to create a wikipedia entry for Richard Holton to help expand our media and marketing coverage.  I also started my intial groundwork for my artists' collective for fine art representation.  More to come on this later, but I was influenced by the ArtReview top 100 most influential artists list.

Who really celebrates Columbus day anymore? I know that I didn't.  I knew it was there and who Columbus was, which is more than I can say for the majority of the country, but what more is there?  Are we going to start losing holidays that aren't pertinent to our societal values now or will Hallmark create a new commercial purpose for this day that used to find everyone together with families and at home relaxing.
